Description SVC UMCPP is a weekly volunteer project at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. We seek to connect students interested in volunteering in a health-care setting with the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro's volunteer program. Volunteers commit to a weekly, three-hour shift in one of the various units at the hospital including emergency medicine, critical care, geriatrics, telemetry, surgical care, pediatrics, and neurology. Responsibilities include checking in on patients, assisting nursing staff, restocking rooms, greeting families and visitors, and answering phone calls. Opportunities to volunteer as a Spanish interpreter in the affiliated outpatient clinics are also available. Our project is part of the PACE Student Volunteers Council; for more information visit http://pace-center.princeton.edu/projects/. Transportation to the hospital is available hourly by the Tiger Transit Forrestal/PPPL green line bus and NJ Transit buses, or by reservation of a PACE Center vehicle. Students must apply through the hospital's application process to become a volunteer; this process may take a couple months. For information about applying, please visit: http://www.princetonhcs.org/phcs-home/who-we-are/volunteers/vounteer-program-for-college-students.aspx.
